TWO more towers are set to loom over the Gold Coast’s skyline, after three major developments were approved yesterday.
A 42-storey tower will be developed by Philip Ave Pty Ltd at Broadbeach and a 31-storey building from Peninsula Properties will add to the Surfers Paradise skyline. JFC Developments’ seven-storey plan for Palm Beach will have 122 units, most of them of one or two bedrooms, with a handful of three-bedroom apartments.

A mix of one, two and three-bedroom units are proposed for the Philip Ave project. Nearby Verve only reaches 28 floors and the development’s immediate neighbours only have eight levels.
Planning committee chairman Cameron Caldwell said renewed interest in the development was a positive for Broadbeach.
“This sort of thing is well placed, with the light rail near and the proximity to the beach,” he said.
One suburb over, a Surfers Paradise park is being given a new lease on life with a 31-storey tower ready to be built on Thornton St.
The 91-unit development will take over two blocks, including a former park owned by the council, which is in the process of selling the land.
Proceeds from the sale will be used to help fund the new cultural precinct at Evandale.
Palm Beach is also set for a building influx, with a 112-unit, seven-storey complex approved. Palm Beach councillor Daphne McDonald said she was worried about the density.
